BLUETTI Handsfree 1 - The Watch on Your Back

Bluetti · $$

Power stations usually sit in a corner and wait for the grid to fail. The Handsfree 1 would rather come along, because BLUETTI built it into a harness instead of a box. The core is 268.8 watt-hours of LiFePO4 chemistry in a shell about three times thinner than a conventional station, and it rides in a 42 liter BluePack harness that spreads the load across chest and waist straps. One AC outlet and two 100 watt USB-C ports keep five devices alive at once, from drone to laptop to camera. The core refills in about 1.5 hours from AC, or from the car in a bit over three. The pack shrugs off splashes and rain with waterproof zippers and a rain cover; the station itself does not swim, and it does not pretend to. It is not a whole-house reserve. It is the reserve that walks with you.

Why it is god-tier

  • 268.8Wh LiFePO4 core in a modular, wireless shell about three times thinner than traditional stations, weighing roughly 11 lb, with one 300W AC outlet, two 100W USB-C ports, and two USB-A ports for up to five devices at once.
  • Recharge in about 1.5 hours from AC at 200W, or 3.2 hours from a 12V car socket and 1.8 hours from 24V, with standby draw cut to as low as 7W in AC/DC modes.
  • BluePack 42L harness: ErgoBLUE load-bearing frame with chest and waist straps, splash-resistant fabric, waterproof zippers, and a rain cover, rated to carry 30 kg.
