Philips Hue Go 2 - The Bowl of Light
Philips Hue · $$
A lamp usually picks a room and stays there. The Bowl of Light picks the hour instead. It is a glossy bowl, 3-1/8 inches tall and 1.378 pounds, with an integrated LED inside that pours 520 lumens of white and color across the table, from a 2000 K evening glow to a 6500 K clear day. Lift it and carry it to the reading chair, the bedside, or the hallway when the power drops. The INR18650 battery holds the charge, the included low-voltage supply tops it back up, and no Wi-Fi is required: Bluetooth talks to the Hue app on its own. Add a Hue Bridge later and Zigbee brings it into the full system, with automations and voice through Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, or Matter. Dusk is a gradient, not a switch. It walks the gradient with you.
Why it is god-tier
- Integrated RGBW LED with 520 lumens of total fixture output (530 lm at 4000 K and 370 lm at 2700 K), tunable white from 2000 to 6500 K, CRI above 80, and smooth dimming from the Hue app or the switch on the body.
- Cordless by design: an internal INR18650 battery, a 1.378 lb glossy bowl that stands 3-1/8 inches tall, an included low-voltage power supply, and full Bluetooth control with no Wi-Fi and no Bridge needed to start.
- Zigbee ready for the whole system: add a Hue Bridge and the lamp joins automations, timers, and rooms, supports Hue effects, and answers Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, Matter, Samsung SmartThings, and Sonos.
